Whelmed, in degrees of variation.

I was overwhelmed by

About just whelmed by

And sadly underwhelmed by

Overall, great idea and I did stay hooked until the end. And big thank you to G for letting me borrow your copies! But I’m really ready to move on to, say

Other recommendations are always appreciated by my fellow bookworm peeps.

(PS I will say this for "Hunger Games:" The entire time I was watching "True Grit," I KNEW that the lead actress has to play Katniss someday. HAS. TO. She goes in the "overwhelmed" category, somewhere near the top.)

Totally agree with you...I was hoping because you didn't have to wait a year for the 3rd book it might help things in terms of disappointment. But the first one is so good, yes?

You need to read the help. It is fabulous!

although i agree with you on mockingjay, i'd have to say that catching fire was just as good, if not better, than hunger games. but that's just me. maybe i just liked the love story...

and i'm with whitney. you HAVE to read the help. it had me at hello. or at least the first paragraph.

and in all honestly. reading that book eight months pregnant is the reason i call my child baby girl. it started in the womb and i haven't been able to break it.

Just a got a good stack of books from Abebooks.com to read. Recommendations to come. Do you remember the book you were reading in Hawaii? What was the name of that thing? I want to read it. I'm stalking it...except I can't remember what "it" is.... Also, I might be old.

Whit and Carrie- i must read the help! So true. Everyone swears by it. Duly noted.

Erica! It was "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Ooooh it was good, dark, but good. Thank you for reminding me of a few of my favorite things- Hawaii, that book, and you!

Agreed. Mockingjay was disappointing. The Help - awesome. It's sad, you laugh, southern, ...
Also, The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society is another good one.
1776 on the other hand. I finished that last night. Oh. My. Gosh. I've never had such a hard time getting through a book. Maybe that's just me.

haha...I love this post! You make me laugh. I totally agree with your assessment on The Hunger Games. Not crazy about the ending, but a good read. My next book is The Help...I hear it's aMAZing! And it looks like your other peeps loved it too.
